A DAY WITH A DIFFERENCE

This year will be the 127th time that the silence of”11th Hour, of the 11th Day, of the 11th Month” has been observed.

Why is it still important and why is it different from Remembrance Sunday? (Though they do occasionally coincide.)

Because it also reminds us of the end of the killing of “the War to end all Wars” the Great War in 1918 (World War One to us but not them).

It was also the start of the PEACE. They thought world peace  would last for generations. But we have not learned from history and it is something we still hope for.

For the first time Keighley Town Council are working with The Picture House with a FREE showing of “The Darkest Hour” (Tea, Coffee and Cakes included).

The film is a chilling reminder of the lead up to and early days of World War Two. The politics, the fear, the danger and how the outcome and all our lives could have been so different. But also the remarkable things that ordinary people can achieve when working together.

It may be set in 1940s Great Britain but it bears messages for everyone. Sadly it could relate to any war in any place.
