The History Society has a digital collection of photographs and images that is hosted on the online platform Flickr. There are well over 12,000 images of people, places, events and objects in this archive. Anyone is able to look at these images. It is the main way in which the Society shares access to the collection. The images are collected into ‘albums’ to do with the subject matter or the person who took the pictures or the person who donated the images or items.

ACCESSING THE HISTORY SOCIETY FLICKR ARCHIVETo see what there is click on the image below. This will take you to a page like this where you can see all the different albums available.
If you join Flickr you can then ‘Follow’ the History Society which means you will know when new photographs have been added, and you can add comments underneath each photograph if you are able to tell us more information.
We are looking to recruit some volunteers who have joined Flickr to help us identify more of the photographs (there are still thousands of photographs we need to identify and label). Please contact us if you are able to help.
