Vaccination Records for Family History @ Zoom
Jun 9 @ 7:00 pm – 8:45 pm
The History Society is holding its monthly meetings online on Zoom for the foreseeable future. In this meeting guest speaker Sylvia Valentine will cover the records which were created as a result of the compulsory smallpox vaccination legislation from 1840 and will discuss the anti-vaccinators who were able to “take over” the board of guardians in Keighley.
This meeting is exclusively for members who have paid to join the History Society. Members should receive an email invite a week or so in advance – remember to look out for it.
The ‘doors’ will open at 7pm but the talk won’t start until around 7.30pm. This is to give people the chance to log in to the meeting and for updates on Society news.
Sylvia Valentine’s talk on Vaccination Records for Family History is on the 9th June. The main picture is a photograph from Dean Smith & Grace, held in the History Society’s archive.

A Virtual Walk Round Keighley @ Zoom
Aug 11 @ 7:00 pm – 8:45 pm
Something a bit different for the Zoom talk this month. At some point in August we hope to get local members together for an actual walk around some of the key sites and buildings in Keighley town centre. And we hope to recreate this tour virtually through the use of photographs, maps and old images on Zoom.
This talk is for members-only. Members should receive their usual invite to attend via email with details on how to join in. If you would like to join the History Society please get in touch or visit our webpage.
The ‘doors’ open at 7pm so we can check everything is working, then there will be a update on History Society business at 7.15pm before the presentation begins at 7.30pm.
