Vintage M&S adverts on big screen in Bradford
M&S may be a bit of a dirty word in Keighley right now, with the announcement of the closure of the town’s store, but there is an event at the cinema in the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford that might be of interest to people. On Wednesday the 18th of April, as part of the Golden Years Film Festival 2018, there is an event called ‘M&S on the Silver Screen’. The M&S Company Archive (based in Leeds where the company was founded) will be sharing highlights from their archive film collection showing vintage M&S adverts from the 1950s to the 1970s that were made to be shown in cinemas. Photos of the History Society’s early days
The Keighley and District Local History was formed in 2004 to mark the centenary of the town’s Carnegie Library. Some photographs from the early years, taken by then secretary Barbara Klempka have been added to our digital archive on Flickr. Click on the image below to look through the album.
