Look & See – Q5

The wonderful roof lines on 100 & 102 Cavendish Street are a simpler version of the Dutch pediments that were found at Cliffe Castle before the top storey was removed. Built in the late 1890s as shops with accommodation above. By 1911 no.102 was occupied by a Jeweller with the wonderful name of Thomas Alexander Carrodus Butterfield. I wonder if he was implying a link with the wealthy Cliffe Castle Butterfield’s? Quite a number of similar pediments can be found around the Town.
