Around this time the Town Hall, the Post Office building next door and the Education Office were built. The final major Civic Building built in the town was the Carnegie Library with the Town Hall Square being laid out at a similar time. Slightly later a stand of shops, with offices above, was built by the Borough Council. These went around the corner, onto the fashionable shopping/Civil area of North Street along with a matching set of shops opposite. Thus giving the then outgrown 1892 Town Hall extra space, extra income and a pleasant situation for the Town Hall.
