Physical Collection

The History Society has a physical collections archive where objects such as books, pictures, paintings, maps, ornaments , postcards etc. are stored. Currently this collection is held at the Civic Centre. Access is very limited and is only available through arrangement with the committee. Cataloguing of the full collection is underway, with many hundreds of books and photographs already catalogued. Two or three times a year the History Society will organise archiving sessions where members can volunteer to help us undertake further cataloguing. Requests can be made to committee to see particular objects which can then be brought along to a regular guest speaker meeting.

We are always happy to expand the physical collection (although there is what we can take on), so if anyone has any items they would like us to consider, please get in touch.
