Instead of a guest-speaker in August, the History Society is holding its annual visit to a place of interest in the area. This year we will be having a look around the Freemason’s Royal Yorkshire Lodge in Cooke Street. The visit will include a fair amount of walking including stairs. Please meet at the War Memorial in Town Hall Square at 7.15pm. Participation is £3 (£1 for History Society members). All are welcome.

    1. Hello Brian. The visit to the Freemason’s Lodge on Cooke Street is happening on 8th August. People can assemble near the Town Hall Square war memorial if they are not sure which door leads to the Lodge. The doors will open at 7pm and we will start at 7.30pm. As well as looking around the Lodge, there will be a talk by Peter Clarke of the Freemasons on the Lodge’s history. The event costs £3 to attend (pay at the door) or £1 if you are a History Society member. There are stairs to be climbed but there is also a stairlift to the floor where the talk will be happening. Regards, Tim
