David Scrimgeour: “Evolution of Asylum Patient Photography”
The archives of the West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum contain hundreds of photographs of the insane poor taken in the 19th century. Through a presentation rich in images David will explain what motivated photography, how it evolved during the 19th century and what legacy remains today. These guest speaker talks are held upstairs in Keighley Library. Doors open at 7pm (use the side entrance on Albert Street, there is a lift available for those needing help in accessing the first floor). Admission costs £3 (£1 for History Society members). All are welcome.
