Planning is underway for a major transport festival in Keighley at the end of May. The History Society is preparing an exhibition for display in the Civic Centre entitled ‘Ten Transport Tales of Keighley’. We hope members will help us research the background and create the displays.
The stories we want to tell include the bus station, gas and steam powered vehicles in the town, the WWII Spitfire paid for by the people of Keighley, the train station and goods yard, Walls shipping business, the electric trams, coaching inns and turnpikes, Keighley Cycling Club and works outings. If you can contribute or help please come along.
History Society meetings take place upstairs at Keighley Library. Doors open at 7pm and the meetings start at 7.30pm. There is a lift available for those who need it. Tea and coffee is served. Admission is open to all and it costs £3 (£1 for History Society members).
